The buzz is catching: the Scarborough Stingers rep baseball program has grown faster than anticipated in only seven years.
The Stingers program was started by the Scarborough Baseball Association and fully endorsed by its member’s leagues – Birchmount, East Toronto, West Hill and Wexford-Agincourt – to provide an elite program for top players in Scarborough and East Toronto.
For 2011 the Stingers will field teams from Minor Mosquito (born 2001) to Midget (born 1994 to 1996), with the exception of the Bantam age group (born 1997). The program is based out of Nielson Park; the Bantam and Midget squads play on the major diamond (considered to be one of the top fields in Toronto), while younger teams such as the mosquito and peewee squads play on the adjacent field.
The Stingers clubs compete in the Toronto Baseball Association loop, which is interlocked with the York-Simcoe Baseball Assocaition, and in tournaments throughout the season.

Since the inception of the Stingers program, the SBA’s member leagues have gradually stepped away from rep baseball to focus on house league programs. Most member leagues are forming house league select programs which continue to grow. Select baseball provides an excellent bridge between house league and rep baseball for developing players.
